Cicablock is the only treatment that gives your scar effective protection against harmful UV radiation from the sun or solarium. Perfect for protecting your scars after surgery, acne and damage if you stay in the sun. Cicablock dries to a film that encapsulates the skin’‘s natural moisture. Its semi permeable properties allow oxygen to enter while the extra moisture is kept outside, which is the optimal environment for a scar to heal in. Cicablock also appears as a barrier against external stresses, such as against bacteria, and can be likened to an additional protective skins .

Cicablock contains a combination of enforcement silicones, vitamin E and a physical sunscreen titanium dioxide, which protects the scar tissue from harmful UV rays from the sun and solarium. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that stimulates blood circulation, increases oxygen uptake, helps to heal wounds and prevent scarring. Its role as an antioxidant makes it even protects against harmful free radicals. Cicablock take account of that scar tissue is much more sensitive than intact skin and is therefore free of irritating chemicals that can cause allergic reactions. Several sunscreen works also because it is a reaction to the radiation in the skin, while Cicablock have a physical sunscreen that reflects the sun’‘s rays without penetrating the skin or react with the sensitive scar tissue.

Cicablock is a treatment that successfully softens, smoothes out and reduces discoloured scars with Cicatrix. Doctors have used silicone for over 25 years to treat scars and its good results and safety is documented in several clinical studies. The conclusion of a study investigating the efficacy and safety silicones was that silicone is an effective method for both treatment and prevention of Hypertrophic scars and keloids. Researchers have found that silicone has a good clinical efficacy, are safe and should be part of any treatment of hypertrophic scars and keloids. Silicones are not water soluble and therefore is Cicablock extremely water resistant. The risk that the sun visor is lost due to swimming and perspiration decreases significantly with a waterproof base of silicone.

Skin and scar
When skin is damaged, such as in surgery, accidents, burns and acne occurs as a scar. To get a scar is a natural part of the healing process. The body repairs the damages that are caused, but because it can not restore tissue identical to the original so the scar may be a different structure and colour. The worse your skin is damaged, the longer it takes for healing and the risk of getting a visible scar increases. It is important that the injury may heal properly and that you are extra cautious during the early period. The most common cause of a discoloured scar is UV radiation from the sun or solarium.

The skin’‘s own sun protection units are Melanin is a pigment that absorbs the sun’‘s harmful UV rays. Scar tissue lacks melanin and are therefore more sensitive to the sun than normal skin. UV rays can discolour the scar of a lighter or darker colour. Discoloration is permanent and the scar will not return to the same colour as surrounding skin. The sun emits light, which contains three different ultraviolet (UV) rays.

UV radiation
UVA
radiation gives the skin a brown tan, but also results in aging of the skin and becomes wrinkled. It is also capable of causing cancer. Over 90% of solar radiation is UVA. Solariums contains, in principle, only UVA radiation.
UVB radiation does not penetrate the skin as deeply as UVA. It is especially UVB, which makes the skin red. It provides severe burns than UVA and causing blemishes, wrinkles, premature aging and increased cancer risk.
UVC radiation is the most dangerous form of UV radiation, but luckily the ozone layer stops mostly of the UVC radiation.

Sunscreen
Sunscreen contains various substances which give a physical or a chemical sunscreen. Cicablock containing titanium dioxide (TiO2) which is a physical sunscreen. Titanium dioxide is considered the only safe sun protection principle contained in today’‘s preparations, and provides good protection against both UVA and UVB. Physical sunscreens protect the skin by the folds of a blocking film between scar tissue and dangerous UV rays. They contain small particles that reflect solar radiation and no chemical reaction occurs in scar tissue. Since the physical sunscreens are not absorbed by the body they are recommended for children and people with sensitive skin, Chemical sunscreens work by taking up the UV radiation by the reaction in the skin. A disadvantage is that they can cause allergic reactions, especially if they have a sun protection factor over 30.
